Yesterday Scott pointed out the importance of remembering past things that God has done, that there is value in this.
For example, it is encouraging to think back of how God saved me and has worked in my life. As a way of remembrance for us, my wife made a small laminated card a while back outlining some of the ways God has led us through the years. It reminds us of the great things God has done for us (Psalm 126:3). You may want to consider making something like that.
But as was also brought out yesterday, we want to remember past victories, yet not to stay there, for there are present battles to be fought.
I hope you are encouraged to press on in the Lord; and remember that the Bible record is also our instruction and encouragement for today.
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4 ESV)

I found the message hit home to me where I am now. It would be nice to rest on the laurels from leading the past Kairos weekend. But that is not to be. Living in Christ, is living in the moment, now, not on what happened sometime in the past. Paul talks about running a race, and to quit early is to not finish that race. It would be like running in first place for the first 100 yards…when the race is a marathon…and walking to the sidelines.
And so, like in running a race, you have to keep going. You need energy. And the energy can only come from within for so long…and then you need that person who passes you the cup of water along the way.
We, I especially, need to stay strong in God’s Word, in prayer, and in meeting with the other brothers and sisters of our faith to finish that race. That is my cup of the living water that will give me the energy to finish the race. Caleb was a good example of that.
